Bulldog Ant ( Myrmecia nigriceps )
we have a number of different types of bull ants on the property in which i live. these guys are particularly difficult to photograph due to their aggressive natures, their ability to jump at you and their sting. for those who are unaware, bull ants give a very painful sting, one of the worst you will ever get from an ant, and many people are allergic to them, in much the same way as a person is allergic to a bee sting. in fact a species of bull ant that lives in Tasmania is listed as highly deadly because of the high rate of individuals that go into anaphylactic shock after being bitten.
